The Handmade Soap Company Review

In the last few weeks I had the pleasure to try some goodies from The Handmade Soap Company.

I was drawn to their products because their Irish, hand-made, all natural, green and so beautifully branded!

Using them just makes me feel good about myself! As some of you might know, I have eczema and so I have to be very careful about what I put on my skin. But like a lot of girls, I still like to try new products and enjoy nicely fragranced cosmetics!

Finding companies like The Handmade Soap Company, who just get all of that, makes me feel so excited! It sort of gives me hope to think that perhaps my condition isn’t just a predicament but an opportunity to discover healthier, cleaner products.

1. Grapefruit & May Chang Candle

I would often have grapefruit for breakfast, I just love it, but I had to google what May Chang was!

May Chang has a spicy, lemony, citrus aroma with vegetative notes. Known as an ‘oil of tranquility’ May Chang is recognized for its ability to promote physical relaxation and mental calm! How’s that for a bit of googling!

I’ve been lighting it in the evenings, while relaxing before going to bed and sometimes in the office in the morning to wake me up. The smell of this candle isn’t overpowering, but rather herbal and comforting. Do you ever get a generic and candle with a really strong smell and think ” I have no idea what’s in this, and it’s probably bad for me to breathe.’?

With the Handmade Soap Company, it’s different. All their candles are made from 100% natural soy wax, and are fragranced using only the finest natural essential oils from plant & fruit extracts.

2. Rosehip Lip Balm

THSC have 3 kinds of lip balms available at the moment – Sweet Orange and Calendula, Chocolate Mint and Rosehip. I picked the Rosehip because it’s the simplest and purest out of all three. This lip balm is unscented, not very oily and makes for a great lip primer. Rosehip seed oil is also rich in vitamins A and C and is a terrific cell regenerator. Love.

3. Lavender Bubble Bath

Lavender is one of my favourite scents, I have bunches of dried up lavender in various places around the house and even under my pillow.

I’ll admit I was first drawn to this product because of the cute glass bottle this comes in, it’s so pretty and good for the environment too!

I’d normally have a bath probably about once a month at home. But going on our mini break to Kinsale, I actually took this with me. I think when you go on a relaxing trip it’s always nice to have a bath in the evening. I often get tempted by the products the hotels would have available in the bathrooms and then my skin would flare up for the next few days. Not this time!

I was very pleasantly surprised by how oily the bubble bath was, so it left my skin feeling soft rather than dried up. It smells like real lavender, not one of those gift shop imitations!

4. Witch Hazel Soap

I am one of those people that prefers to use bars of soap over liquid soap. I keep one in the kitchen as well as the bathroom. Living in a house with two indoor cats, I like to wash my hands quite frequently, but anything that is too harsh will easily irritate my skin.

Witch hazel is known for its therapeutic skin properties. This soap smells like a mossy forest after rain, it’s just lovely, I’ve used it sparingly in the shower also.
