The Smoothie Bowl Craze – My 10 Favourite Recipes

About a moth ago I gave smoothie bowls a go and I don’t know how I ever lived without them! They can be seen popping up all over instagram and I understand why!

I’ve been a smoothie fan for a good while now, as it’s such an easy and tasty way to pack nutrients into your system super quick. But something magic happens when you put a smoothie into a bowl. It changes your taste perception completely and makes you feel like you’re eating a dessert.

You can sprinkle them with delicious superfood toppings, that not only make them look beautiful and appetizing, but also add that extra crunch, vitamins and energy!

It’s a perfect breakfast for when you just don’t feel like porridge again and want to liven up your routine. Because people are getting really on board with them, it’s really easy to get lots of frozen food mixes in the shops, which makes them relatively inexpensive and quick to make!

Because I don’t take well to dairy, I always make mine with rice milk, which is subtly sweet and very neutral in taste. In a lot of cases, coconut or almond milk might work really nice for you instead too!

To make them, I use Breville Blend Active Blender which I had for a few years now. If you never had a power blender you need to try it – it’s amazing how easily all the frozen food blends together in less than 30 seconds!

Here are a few of my favourite, easy recipes, that I’ve tried and tested!

  1. Hi there, I’m yet to try my first smoothie bowl. These look great but what ratio of fruit:rice milk so you use please?

    • Roughly 50:50, so I just put in enough milk so that the fruit is covered. But it all depends on how thick you want it. If you want to drizzle a lot of yummies on top, I’d even put in a little less! Enjoy!
