Last night I attended the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards for the very first time! It was such a fantastic night and I was so excited to be there.
The girls at Standun were kind enough to let me select an outfit for the night. I narrowed it down to three options (you can see the other two here) and in the end I went with this combination of knit & print.
I collaborated with Standun twice before, once on this Aran Jumper outfit post and at their birthday celebrations where I put together 7 different ways to style an Aran Jumper. I had to laugh a little when I caught myself saying “I want to wear an Aran knit again to represent my roots” and realized that I’m not technically Irish. I was told that I get away with it, seeing as I’m pretty much an honorary Irish person already!
I felt like this outfit represented the reason why I love their shop so much – it’s a meeting of heritage with contemporary Irish fashion and it’s always great quality. The colours reminded me of spring and daffodils and ultimately it was so comfortable to wear! I can definitely see myself wearing this jumper again styled in a more casual way too.
I have a special place in my heart for dresses and skirts with pockets. I feel a little hard done by that most of the ‘menswear’ items have handy pockets while ‘ladies’ fashion is often less practical.
I was somewhat brave and decided to do my own hair & make-up. This usually involves a lot of frustrated cursing in front of the mirror but this time it went rather well and I was happy with the result!
*Big thank you to Kenny who took these photos ahead of the event for me.*
I will definitely be sharing more photos and insight into the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards over the next few days! There was so much I loved, it will be hard to narrow down!
Until then, Slán!
