Autumn in Galway – Merlin Castle Walk

There is definitely that distinct moment in each year when I become ready to receive autumn. That moment is now. I want to go visit an orchard, I want to collect leaves, light candles and put cinnamon on top of everything.

Galway has lots of places that loan themselves to beautiful autumnal wanderings. Some of my favourites are NUIG grounds, the Corrib Canals, Rinville Park and Coole. I am always on the lookout for more. I think if you live in a city you love it’s possible to continually keep discovering new things.

This morning Kenny and I called to Merlin Castle for a walk. It was my first time there, even though it’s just a few short minutes from our house. One of the most beguiling things about Ireland is that no matter where you go, you’re bound to stumble across a stunning castle or something otherwise mystical.
